Stereocaulon ramulosum is a pale greyish fruticose lichen with a shrubby thallus (body of the lichen), conspicuous red-brown apothecia (disc-like fruiting bodies), and bluish-grey warty cephalodia.
Stereocaulon ramulosum commonly occurs on rock substrate, rarely on dead wood.
