Log Cabin Moth

Lepidoscia heliochares is a small Bagworm Moth that was first observed in Auckland around 1980 having arrived from Australia. The caterpillar lives in an unusual looking spiral of vegetation that looks like a tiny log cabin. The caterpillar is often observed slowly moving over the exterior walls of buildings or on the leaves of plants, commonly flaxes.
