Ctenopseustis fraterna

Brownheaded Leafroller

New Zealand Status: Native Endemic
Conservation Status: n/a

Ctenopseustis fraterna is a leafroller moth that is endemic to the North Island of New Zealand. Adults have a forewing colour that is variably silver-grey to dark chocolate brown, often with a purplish sheen. When at rest the moth is well camouflaged against the dead fronds of its host plant. The moth is similar to other species within the genus and the common name, Brownheaded Leafroller, is used for all of them.

Ctenopseustis fraterna is forest dwelling and monophagous, feeding primarily on Cyathea dealbata (Silver fern) in the North Island.
